Barlowe is one of the initially hidden yet playable characters in the Ode to Castlevania DLC in Vampire Survivors. He can pick either Dominus Anger or Dominus Hatred as his optional starting weapon. He is also eligible to pick
Ebony Diabologue as optional starting weapon.
Defeating 8,000 enemies with Barlowe unlocks
Dominus Agony.
Unlocking[]
Barlowe is unlocked by evolving
Optical Shot.
Alternatively, Barlowe can be unlocked in the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane by casting the Spell "pitiablemadman".
Passive bonuses[]
Barlowe starts with +200 MaxHealth, +1 Armor, +20% Duration, +20% Area, and +10 Banish.
Overhealing increases his Might and his Curse by 1, starting at 24 Health overhealed with diminishing returns.
Up until level 11 he has a chance to receive the
Ebony Diabologue
as his 4th level up option.
He can find special Castlevania pickups, like Wall Chicken.
Tips[]
- His enormous starting health makes him able to easily support Wicked Season (XIII) starts to snowball rapidly.
- His ability to start with Ebony Diabologue and regularly find it on level-up in the early levels makes it easy to assemble certain builds. While Power of Sire is the obvious and flavorful pick, consider also Trinum Custodem. Up to 20% additional cooldown reduction, on top of that granted by the must-have Empty Tome, will help rapidly snowball Paranormal Scan, which contributes to Barlowe's Might and Curse scaling by overhealing. This build may also consider Soul Steal as a way to heal even more while decimating enemies, with Trinum and Paranormal Scan helping to reduce its long cooldown.
- Sarabande of Healing (VI) can double Barlowe's stat gain rate.
- A critical strike build with Muramasa and Fuwalafuwaloo can also be considered, since both of these weapons can steal hearts at a rapid rate.

Trivia[]
- His unlocking spell is a reference to his enemy description from Order of Ecclesia: "A pitiable madman, his body is now Dracula's vessel."
- Despite
Globus being one of his attacks in Order of Ecclesia, his starting weapons are the Dominus Glyphs that he created.
