Barrier is one of the pickups that has a chance to drop from light sources. Its drop rate is affected by Luck.

Barrier can only appear when playing on Neo Galuga and Hectic Highway or as a character from the Operation Guns DLC. Simondo Belmont is also able to spawn this pickup without the need for light sources.

Effects

Barrier provides a stacking shield that prevents damage from the next attack. This can stack up to 10 times. After losing the shield the player will be briefly invulnerable. Unlike the shield from Laurel and Crimson Shroud, stacks of the shield can be consumed even during the invulnerable phase.

Tips

• If possible try to avoid getting hit rapidly when you have multiple shield stacks. Spreading out the damage taken will allow you to take full advantage of the shield and invulnerable provided.
