Death is one of the secret playable characters in the Ode to Castlevania DLC in Vampire Survivors. His starting weapon is Death Spiral.
Unlocking[]
In the Ode to Castlevania stage, enter the boss fight against Death (which is only accessible while playing as Richter Belmont) with Clock Tower equipped, which is the union of Endo Gears, Peri Pendulum, Myo Lift, and Epi Head unlocked after unlocking the Serpent Gate.
Once unlocked, Death can be purchased for 16,650, which scales with other characters purchased.
Alternatively, Death can be unlocked in the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane by casting the Spell "sewardzead".
Passive bonuses[]
Death starts with +155 Max Health, +100% Move Speed, and +20% Might. Stat-wise, Death is identical to the Mask of the Red Death.
He cannot die, but his run ends at the Time Limit, similar to characters such as Megalo Menya Moonspell and Ghost Lino.
Once the Ebony and Crimson Stones have been obtained, Death will morph into a smaller version of his boss form upon reaching level 80. This form gets two giant claws attached via arms that move in tandem with Death, and damage enemies. There are no stat changes in this form.
He can find special Castlevania pickups, like Wall Chicken.
Trivia[]
- Death's description is a reference to Mask of the Red Death's description, "A blasphemous mockery."
- The hint for unlocking Death is likely a reference to how, in the Castlevania series, he is typically fought in the Clock Tower.
- The spell for unlocking Death refers to Death's human disguises, Seward and Zead.
- Death is one of the very few characters in Vampire Survivors who has voice acting, alongside Richter Belmont and Vlad Tepes Dracula. He is voiced by SungWon Cho, who is also the voice for Richter Belmont.
