Gorgeous Moon is a weapon in Vampire Survivors. It is the evolution of Pentagram, requiring Crown.
Effects[]
Similarly to Pentagram, Gorgeous Moon erases enemies on the screen, but no longer destroys Pickups. Instead, it generates additional experience.
Gorgeous Moon's effect has 3 phases:
- Generation: This phase occurs 3 seconds after Cooldown. As the Gorgeous Moon symbol appears on the ground, it pulses and chimes. It targets the closest enemies on the screen with a moon beam that can erase them, generating uniquely colored Experience Gems (orange, yellow, magenta) that yield 1 experience next to their usual gem drop. The attack frequency increases over time until the next phase.
- Attack frequency starts off at 0.75 seconds for 8 beams, 0.375 seconds for 4 beams, and 0.2 seconds for 8 beams, for a total of 20 beams in 9.1 seconds.
- Erasure: This phase occurs 12.1 seconds after Cooldown. A waxing crescent symbol appears and shatters, erasing all enemies on the screen like the Pentagram. This has a 0% chance of destroying items, and enemies erased also drop an extra gorgeous gem.
- Vacuum: This phase occurs a brief moment after the previous phase. A waning crescent symbol mends from the shattered symbol and disappears, attracting all the gems on the level, identically to the Vacuum effect.
Gorgeous Moon can be affected by Cooldown bonuses, but there is a hard coded limit of 15 seconds on how often Gorgeous Moon can trigger, which would make Gorgeous Moon active almost all of the time going through its three phases.
Some enemies are completely unaffected by Gorgeous Moon.
Gorgeous Moon can attack and defeat the otherwise intangible Stalkers, Drowners, and Tricksters in Dairy Plant, Gallo Tower, Cappella Magna, and The Bone Zone before minute 30, causing them to drop chests.
Arcanas[]
Selecting Blood Astronomia (XXI) Arcana allows Gorgeous Moon to place multiple instant kill zones on the ground.
Levels[]
With Limit Break, Gorgeous Moon can be further leveled up.

- ↑ Luck is no longer relevant, as there is no chance to destroy items
- ↑ Higher Growth increases the value of the experience gems it generates and from other sources it vacuums up
- ↑ While not directly increases the effectiveness of Gorgeous Moon, the Arcana benefits from more experience gems and a periodic vacuum effect
- ↑ Indirectly affected by bonuses to Growth
- ↑ Indirectly affected by bonuses to Cooldown
Tips[]
- Gorgeous Moon only benefits from Cooldown. Luck is obsolete as the chance stats of the weapon is already at 100% when evolved.
- Since Gorgeous Moon has a 0% chance of destroying Pickups, it is advised to evolve Pentagram as soon as possible upon selecting it.
- Because some enemies, like The Reaper or bosses at the 25th minute in most stages, are immune to Gorgeous Moon's effect, it cannot be relied on as your only tool of killing enemies.
- To reach Gorgeous Moon's 15 seconds cooldown limit, a Cooldown bonus of -75% is required.
- With Game Killer (0), the vacuum effect can periodically collect all the experience gems and hurl them at enemies. Limit Break increases some of the gem values and Gorgeous Moon needing Crown to evolve also increases the damage dealt by the experience gems.
- With Limit Break enabled, Gorgeous Moon's Amount can be levelled up. As with Pentagram, and most other weapons, when Gorgeous Moon is chosen to level up it will immediately be activated even if currently active. If Gorgeous Moon is the only weapon (or the only one which can be upgraded through Limit Break) and Growth is high enough (Wicked Season (XIII) is the simplest way to accomplish this) it can be caught in a self-perpetuating loop resulting in innumerable layered Gorgeous Moon attacks constantly firing. The only ways to break the loop once it's started are to avoid getting any XP and waiting for the game to catch up or for the character to die.
Trivia[]
- Gorgeous Moon Generation and Erasure phase always deals damage equal to the max health of the enemy, if it is lower than 660 the damage number is overwritten to display it between 655 to 665.
- Gorgeous Moon bears some resemblance to, and may be inspired by the Moon Rune (which embodies destruction and compassion) from the Suikoden series.
- Gorgeous Moon most likely is a reference to the Sailor Moon series. The crescent symbol that appears on the ground looks remarkably like one of the locket designs from the series. The chime sound effect during its Generation phase is reminiscent of the various sparkle sounds from the anime as well. The name references one of Sailor Moon's attacks, Moon Gorgeous Meditation.
- Gorgeous Moon's ID is also likely a reference to the Power of Sire item in Castlevania: Symphony of The Night, which also deals screen-wide damage.
- Gorgeous Moon also serves as a counterpart to the Pentagram, as the Eye of Ra is related to the Sun.
- Gorgeous Moon's Limit Break affected by base Amount was left out in patch 0.8.0 and was added back a few days later in a smaller patch.
