The NO FUTURE is a weapon in Vampire Survivors. It is the evolution of Runetracer, requiring Armor. It is the starting weapon of Gyoruntin.

Effects[]

NO FUTURE fires a ricocheting cyan laser in random directions. It has infinite pierce and bounces off the edge of the screen or obstacles, damaging enemies they hit. The explosion radius has a translucent test pattern, surrounded by a circle of purple particles. When retaliating, it creates an explosion around the character and can retaliate every 0.5 seconds.

It has a much higher Speed, lower Amount, slightly lower Duration and no Interval compared to the Runetracer. However, its Cooldown depends on the weapon's Duration, meaning that its Cooldown is extended by its Duration of 3 seconds to 4 seconds total. Each Armor also increase the retaliatory explosion damage by 10% additively.

NO FUTURE has a 0.5 second Hitbox Delay, meaning that the same enemy cannot be hit more often than every half a second by the same laser. However, because all active delays are reset simultaneously as soon as any one elapses or bounces off a wall, some enemies may get hit more often.

Tips[]

  • NO FUTURE benefits from every passive item. It is best with Speed, Duration and Amount. Area increases both the width of the laser and size of explosions.
    • Normally there cannot be multiple sets of laser active at once as its Cooldown is based on the weapon's Duration added to its Cooldown. However, with the character's Duration bonuses from Spellbinder or Duration PowerUp, it is possible to achieve this as the increase to Cooldown depends only on the weapon's Duration.
  • NO FUTURE can deal millions of damage in a run, due to its infinite pierce and its area-of-effect explosions. Increasing the Amount allows it to cover a larger portion of the screen.

Trivia[]

  • NO FUTURE resembles Genocide/Heretical Heart, the final boss of T260G's story in the PSX game SaGa Frontier. The boss has a phase-change attack called Carnage in which the text "NO FUTURE" is displayed. This may be the source of the weapon's name.
    • The test patterns that appear when bouncing off of walls are a reference to the screens that Genocide/Heretical Heart bounces lasers off when using Carnage. The lasers are also cyan.
    • The video that initially showcased the weapon is titled "ℕ𝕆 𝔽𝕌𝕋𝕌ℝ𝔼," referencing the font used during Carnage in SaGa Frontier.
      • The video description includes Genocide/Heretical Heart's follow-up message, "Now at Security Level 4."
  • There used to be an oversight where the explosions from hitting the edge will also benefit from Armor. This was fixed in patch 0.11.2.
