Vicious Hunger is a weapon in Vampire Survivors. It is the evolution of Gatti Amari, requiring Stone Mask. It is the starting weapon of Sammy.
Effects[]
Vicious Hunger summons giant cat eyeballs with a hexagram on the edge of the screen. The eyeballs mostly travel in a straight line and may change direction after a while, dealing damage when in contact with the enemies. Compared to Gatti Amari, the Base Damage is increased to 30 and will be overridden by Gatti Amari's Base Damage if it is already higher from all the Floor Chicken consumed. However, it has a slight decrease in Duration, and a big increase in Cooldown and Amount is also lowered by 1.
Vicious Hunger has a 1 second Hitbox Delay, meaning that the same enemy cannot be hit more often than every second by the same eyeball. However, because all active delays are reset simultaneously as soon as any one elapses, some enemies may get hit more often.
Vicious Hunger has a chance to transmute enemies killed by it into Gold Coins, which can extend the duration of Gold Fever by 0.05 seconds. The chance of transmuting enemy kills into gold is calculated with the formula:
In more detail, the random number generation for transmuting enemy into gold when they are killed are handled via the following procedure:
- First, an array is created, starting from 0, it increments by 0.001 each time up to 0.999. It is then shuffled.
- Then, when the random function is called. A value x in the array is picked using an index starting from 0, it will increase by 1 each time the function is called. As the array only has that 1,000 values, the function takes the index modulo 1,000 (the remainder after a value is divided by it) then used it for the array to prevent exceptions from occurring.
- Next, a set value called goldChance which starts off having a value of 0.005. Based on the Base Damage of Gatti Amari, an additional 0.005 * (baseDamage / 62 OR 1, whichever is lower) is added to goldChance. It is then multiplied by the character's Luck to get a result.
- Gatti Amari has an initial Base Damage of 10, meaning it will add at least 0.000806 and at most another 0.005 to goldChance, ranging from 0.005806 to 0.01.
- Lastly, the result is compared with x, and spawn a Gold Coin if x < result.
They also have a chance to transmute Pickups on the screen that are considered edible. The chance of transmuting Pickups into gold is the same as above. However, if it does not happen, there is still a flat 75% chance of them simply consuming the Pickup if it has a value of less than or equal to 2 without any additional effects. Using an identical random number generation method as above, it checks for x >= 0.25 and the value of the item, if both are true, the Pickup will be consumed.
Interactions[]
All the interactions Gatti Amari had no longer apply to Vicious Hunger, as it has its own set of interactions:
- Gold Coins, Coin Bags, and Rich Coin Bag are collected and fly towards the character.
- Floor Chicken, Little Clover, Orologion, Rosary, Nduja Fritta Tanto, Experience Gem, and Vacuum are all considered edible. They have a slight chance to transmute into Gold Coins. Otherwise, they have a 75% chance to be simply consumed if they have a value of less than or equal to 2 and have no additional effects.
- This prevents Vicious Hunger from consuming coalesced red Experience Gem and make the player lose out on a huge amount of experience. However, this also ironically prevents it from consuming any more Floor Chicken as they always have a value of 30.
- Ignores Gilded Clover.
Arcanas[]
Selecting Gemini (I) Arcana creates a counterpart - Flock Destroyer - that is functionally the same as Gatti Amari at max level and keeps Gatti Amari also at max level, spawning all six types of cats and both benefit from Limit Breaking.
Levels[]
With Limit Break, Vicious Hunger can be further leveled up.

Tips[]
- As Vicious Hunger can transmute enemies into Gold Coins, do not evolve Gatti Amari until you are satisfied with the power of your current build or if you are trying to reach a certain level for an achievement or unlock (since enemies can drop Experience Gems, but evolving Gatti Amari will result in a lower rate of getting Experience Gems from enemies).
- Pickups no longer have any effect on Vicious Hunger. Unless you want to bet on the slim chance of transmuting them into Gold Coins, use them before they are wasted.
- The transmuted Gold Coins can trigger the duration extension for Gold Fever and the healing effect of Disco of Gold (XV).
- The cats from Gatti Amari need to consume at least 23 Floor Chicken prior to the evolution to be able to override Vicious Hunger's Base Damage.
- They need to consume at least 90 Floor Chicken prior to the evolution to get to 62 Base Damage for the maximum bonus goldChance to transmute more enemies and Pickups into Gold Coins.
- Vicious Hunger lacks Gatti Amari's ability to start fights, which usually makes its overall combat performance inferior to that of its unevolved counterpart. If you're using Gatti Amari for its damage and area control potential and have no need for further gold, do not evolve the weapon.

Trivia[]
- Vicious Hunger references how much Floor Chicken the cats from Gatti Amari could have consumed, theoretically an infinite amount, and its ability to consume most Pickups without any effects, completely devouring them.
- The ability to transmute everything it touches into gold may be a reference to Midas' Curse.
